Dispersed lamellar phases in dense CO2

DOI

This proposal aims to explore these dispersed lamellar phases with a variety of F7H4 derivatives,to help understand their formation in supercritical CO2 (sc-CO2). The focus is on development ofsolvent modifiers for CO2. This is part of continuous investigations following previous successfulexperiments (e.g. RB1010014 and RB1010005). The new approach utilizes an often overlookedarea of the phase diagram, beyond the stable clear microemulsion phase, where lamellaraggregates are formed in equilibrium with the continuous solvent. The experiment is part of theNext Generation Facility User grant Neutron scattering studies of CO2-based gels (EP/F020686);the PhD is investigator SC.
