Mixed micelles with green surfactants

DOI

This proposal aims to explore aqueous phase structures and compositions of a series of mixed surfactants. Although standard petrochemically-derived surfactant mixtures have been extensively studied e.g.1-5 little is known about mixing behaviour of new 21st century ¿green¿ surfactants, which are the focus of this proposal. Composition of these mixed micelles will be determined by use of appropriate D/H surfactant combinations, using the protocol developed by Penfold et al.5 The proposal builds on RB1120028 (requested 3 days awarded 1 day for SANS2D but moved to LOQ 10-11 March 2012 because of pressure on SANS2D), to make up the extra 2 beam days needed to complete this study. The panel made comments about RB1120028 ¿What are the established theories? Needs more extensive literature citations¿: this new proposal has been modified to address those comments.
