Constructing analogues of gemini and oligomeric surfactants through noncovalent binding

DOI

Gemini-like and oligomeric-like surfactants can be constructed by single-chain or gemini surfacants with connecting molecules through noncovalent binding without complicated chemical synthesize. And these complexes behave as synthesized gemini and oligomeric surfactants in aqueous solution, exhibiting not only superior physicochemical properties but also various aggregate transitions. Various aggregates can be observed in these mixed systems including spherical micelles, vesicles and long threadlike micelles. SANS experiments would be extremely powerful to obtain the detailed structure information of the aggregates, such as precise size of core and shell, shape, aggregation number, and localization of different components, facilitating to further understand binding process and better control the formation of aggregates.
