Aggregation of Polar Multi-end Functional Polymers

DOI

Polar functional groups on polymer chains are of particular interest for applications in adhesion, printing, biocompatibility and mineralisation. We have created a series of novel additives, which contain multiple (4 or 8) polar functional groups per polymer chain that we anticipate will be highly active at polar interfaces. To a large extent however, the utility of these additives is limited by their ability to diffuse to the relevant surface or interface, and our previous work on the corresponding fluorocarbon multi end functional polymers has shown that multiple groups can lead to a range of morphologies with widely differing mobility in the melt. We request SANS beamtime to study these new materials in molten blends.
