Charged nanogels and their ability to penetrate model lipid membranes

DOI

Drug delivery through the skin is an important route for administration of therapeutic agents. However, the outermost layer of the skin, the stratum corneum provides a formidable barrier to dermal absorption and penetration of drugs or therapeutic agents. In this proposal we aim to investigate the interaction of charged cross-linked polymeric nanogels with a ceramide lipid multilayers and mixed lipid multilayers of ceramide lipid/cholesterol/fatty acid, designed to mimic the lipid organization of the human skin.
