Modelling the Intracellular Lipid Shuttling Mechanism of Non Specific Lipid Transfer Protein

DOI

Previously we have examined the interaction of barley non-specific lipid transfer protein (nsLTP1) with OTS and lipid monolayers at the solid/liquid interface. Examining the protein only interaction with lipids at this interface and the protein lipid deposition activity towards hydrophobic surfaces. This data has provided unique structural insights into the behavior of this biotechnologically important protein. Here, we propose to build on this work by examining the interaction of this protein with Langmuir Schaefer bilayers at the solid/liquid interface. In particular we wish to examine the ability of the protein transport lipids between bilayers by examining the protein mediated insertion of lipids within anionic bilayers at the solid liquid interface and compare this to the interaction of the lipid free protein with these model biological membranes.
