Measurements of shish structure in semicrystalline polymers after controlled shear-induced crystallizationA combinatorial approach developed to find the boundary conditions for the formation of oriented nuclei can be used to measure a step by step growth of oriented shish nuclei in the crystallized polymer samples. The long-chain molecules in the polymer ensemble are responsible for the formation of shish nuclei under a shear flow. If the matrix short-chain polymer will be deuterated in a bidisperse model blend then the location of the hydrogenous long-chain polymer can be detected in sheared samples by means of small angle neutron scattering experiment and the structural parameters of the shish nuclei created by the shear flow can be measured.
