Structure and encapsulation of additives in spray coated surfactant templated films.

DOI

This proposal continues our work into surfactant templated films formed from surfactant/polyelectrolyte solutions. Recently we have been studying the encapsulation of hydrophobic additives with these films. We have also started studying spray coating as a possible alternative method of creating these films. Here we aim to combine these two projects and study the structure of spray coated films created from solutions with and without hydrophobic additives. Using the multi detector on INTER we will be able to look at both the specular and off specular scattering which will highly valuable in final structure determination. Also the high flux available on INTER will allow us to perform kinetic measurement as the films dry after application of the solution. We also aim to determine if it is possible to incorporate additive into previously created and dried films.
