Probing the [FeFe]-hydrogenase using muon spectroscopy

DOI

During our previous experiment on HiFi (RB1320541) we measured the ALC spectrum of the Fe2(µ-pdt)(CO)4(PMe3)2 model hydrogenase complex over multiple temperatures. The spectra were characterised by two broad features which we were able to assign to a bridging and a terminally muoniated species, with the former being the dominant. In the current application our goals are threefold: 1) we would like to extend the field region of the ALC spectrum in the solid state to hunt for the Δ1 resonances predicted by our DFT calculations, 2) continue our investigation of addition sites and dynamics in solution where isotropy will remove Δ1 resonances (which could be masking Δ0 resonances in the solid state), 3) measure muonium addition rates over a number of dilute concentrations using ALC line the broadening technique.
