The electronic structure and magnetic properties of metal nanoparticles stabilized with organic surfactants with double bond

DOI

In recent years, nanoparticles have been a major source of interest in a wide range of fields. Our long term objectives are tuning the free radical reactivity on the surface of nanoparticles, study of the dynamics of free radicals on the surface of nanoparticles and reactivity of free radicals on the surface of nanoparticles as well as tuning the magnetic properties of nanoparticles by their size and surfactant. The short term questions that we would like to answer are the following: 1) what is the effect of gold nanoparticles on formation of free radicals? Do gold nanoparticles affect the types of free radicals formed? 2) How do the structure and the electronic structure of free radicals get affected by nanoparticles? We can answer these questions by characterizing the free radicals free in solvent and bound on gold nanoparticles in solution. The characterization will be by ALCR and RF.
