Cells are complex systems where small fragments play an interdependent role. The functionality of these systems can be distinct at different length and timescales, depending on physiological conditions or cells type. For example, cancer cells are more flexible than the healthy ones. Thus, understanding cancer cells flexibility is the first step to elucidate how and why they migrate and adhere to different tissues. Another point about the dynamics of cancer cells is the mechanism of action of the drug paclitaxel that bonds to the structural framework of cancer cells, the cytoskeleton, and inhibits their motions and division. Then, a cancer cell treated with paclitaxel should present changes on flexibility. Understanding such changes at distinct timescales might provide additional information on paclitaxel´s action and support the development of new and less toxic drugs.
