Dynamic ferromagnetic domains in a frustrated 1-d chain system

DOI

We propose to carry out a small angle scattering experiment on LOQ or SANS2D on a frustrated Ising chain system. SrHoCrO6 is based on ferromagnetic chains arranged on a hexagonal lattice with antiferromagnetic interactions between the chains. Diffraction experiments have found the ground state to be highly metastable and inelastic scattering studies have found evidence for the presence of significant scattering near Q=0. We propose to investigate the domain structure using small angle scattering at ISIS.
