Magnetic Disorder at Fe/MgO and Co/MgO Interfaces

DOI

The tunnel magnetoresistive effect (TMR) is critically dependent upon interfacial disorder. Polarised neutron reflectivity will be used to characterise the magnetic roughness at the interface in Fe/MgO and Co/MgO multilayers. This will determine whether the difference in TMR observed for Fe/MgO/Fe and Co/MgO/Co magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) is due to magnetic disorder.
