ESKAPEE pathogens isolated from foods. ESKAPEE is an acronym for Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter spp., and Escherichia coli, comprising high to critical drug-resistant critical priority pathogens. This is an umbrella project to encompass a multi-year project investigating different food sources. Some isolates may not be ESKAPEE pathogens, but were recovered using the same methodology to select for ESBL-resistant bacteria.
