16S V4 sequencing of surface mucus from Montastraea cavernosa corals

These samples are from a time series experiment comparing different intervention treatments effectiveness at treating stony coral tissue loss disease (SCTLD). SCTLD-affected Montastraea cavernosa colonies offshore of Broward County, Florida were tagged and divided into three treatment groups: 1) chlorinated epoxy, 2) CoreRx/Ocean Alchemists Base 2B plus amoxicillin, and 3) untreated controls. Samples of the surface mucus of the colonies in all treatments was collected before treatment, then after treatment at 3, 5, 9, and 26 weeks. These samples were sequenced for the V4 region of the 16S amplicon, and library prep included the development and addition of custom PNA clamps which were varied in their effectiveness across samples.
