Ammonia adsorption studies of Li(11)BD4 and Mg((11)BD4)2

DOI

On exposure to ammonia, LiBD4 and Mg(BD4)2 form the respective ammoniates, Li(11)BD4(ND3)n and Mg((11)BD4)2(ND3)6. We have identified the decomposition temperatures, kinetics and pathways for the two species and we now wish to investigate the structural changes during the adsorption / desorption processes. Our proposal consists of the experiments:i) Reaction of Li(11)BD4 with ammonia followed by desorption and decomposition of the formed ammoniate.ii) Reaction of Mg((11)BD4)2 with ammonia followed by desorption and decomposition of the formed ammoniate.
