This file Metro Experiment.zip contains two folders, the “MetroUE5_windows” and “RawData”. The first folder contains the executable of the original experiment for reproducibility purposes. The experiment was designed to study the walking trajectories in a photorealistic virtual reality scenario, populated with virtual humans in a spatially constrained environment (metro). It contains the file “MetroUE5.exe” which features the experiment and a file “README.txt” with instructions on how to run it.
The second folder “RawData”, contains the dataset from 38 individuals who were tested for the purposes of the main objective of the project ForEVR, to study the perception of virtual human motion and their effect on users’ physical avoidance behaviour in virtual reality. The data is anonymised and contains information about the participants’ gender, age, experience with virtual humans and VR and subjective responses to the questionnaires (place illusion, social presence, personality traits, embodiment and free comments) and ordered based on full or on missing data of the walking trajectories. The data is presented in the form of csv files with the x and y coordinates of the participant’s HMD in the virtual environment for each frame of the VR experience. The folder also contains resampled data, which was used to compute the proximity metrics. The full experiment and results are published in the publication: Patotskaya, Y. et al. (2023). Avoiding virtual humans in a constrained environment: exploration of novel behavioural measures. Computers and Graphics.
