Sensing Slowness

DOI

This data set was generated in a qualitative study on the audience reception of slow cinema. The study explores the experience of cinematic slowness and employs the method of micro-phenomenology to generate and analyse descriptive data about lived experiences.

The data set contains the following file types:

  1. Interview transcripts (.pdf). These files contain the word-by-word transcription of the interviews. A readme (.txt) explains the transcription conventions.

  2. Processed files (.pdf). These files contain the processed transcripts that are grouped into thematic categories. They also contain notes on the coding and categorisation criteria. A readme (.txt) explains the content of the documents.

  3. Project file (.atlasti) This is the Atlas.TI project file used for the analysis of the data. It includes transcripts, codes, groups, networks, and memos.

  4. Interview protocol (.pdf) This document outlines the structure of the interview and gives an indication of the scope of the types of questions the interviewer is allowed to ask, following standard micro-phenomenology guidelines.

  5. Codebook (.pdf) This file lists all the categories that emerged in the analysis of the data and provides descriptions of the grouping criteria.

  6. Pipeline description (.pdf) A general pipeline description of the study is provided in the document, covering instructions for participant selection, film clips (stimuli), interview structure, and analysis procedure.

  7. Read me (.txt) Read me files pertaining to the transcripts, processed files, and a general info sheet.
