Videos of the Numerical Simulation of Single Drop Impingement onto Textured, Superheated Walls

Videos of the numerical simulation of single drop impingement onto textured, superheated walls. The videos show the following cases: regular arranged rectangular pillars with a close and far distance between the pillars, low and high pillars, narrow and wide pillars, large (256 microns) and small (64 microns) pillars as well as cases with a double drop volume on large pillars and with a half drop volume on small pillars. These cases are based on a reference surface decorated with pillars having an edge length of 128 microns. There are two additional cases (wide, low, close and narrow, high, far) simultaneously varying the pillar width, height, and distance to keep the surface area equal to the reference surface. Impact parameters such as initial drop diameter, impact velocity, and wall superheat are 1.14 mm, 0.54 m/s, and 9.8 K, respectively. Dimensionless numbers such as Reynolds, Weber, Bond, and Jakob numbers are 2230, 62.4, 0.6, and 0.13, respectively. For the reference case, there are additional cases with variations in the impact velocity (0 m/s, 0.135 m/s, and 0.27 m/s). The working fluid is perfluorohexane (FC-72) in a pure vapor atmosphere of the same fluid at ambient pressure. The simulations are carried out in OpenFOAM.
