The RDA Europe Science Workshop 2018 “Strategies and tools for data sharing: Researchers in dialogue with the Research Data Alliance” was held in Amsterdam on 17‐18 January 2018, in the impressive surroundings of the Artis (Natura Artis Magistra) zoological park. Meteorological problems in the Netherlands and Northern Europe disrupted plane and train transportation, which affected participation. 16 experts from France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, United Kingdom, attended the Workshop, which began with general presentations of DANS and the RDA, followed by a set of three breakout sessions which reported to a plenary meeting at the end of the first afternoon. The breakout sessions dealt respectively with Lifecycle of data and data management, Data publication and citation, and Making data digital and further (FAIR). The three splinter sessions gathered again on the second morning, and conclusions were shared in a final plenary gathering, which included an on‐line questionnaire on the participants’ opinions on RDA and the Workshop which triggered additional lively discussion, in particular on interaction between RDA and the science community.
