Macrocyclic ligands at the oil-water interface

DOI

Azacrown ethers and a mixture of azacrown ethers and fatty acids have been studied at the oil-water interface using surface-pressure isotherms and other classical surface characterization techniques. However, the detailed structural conformation is still lacking. In order to understand these systems fully at the important oil-water interfaces and provide a direct experimental evidence for possible orientations of ACE molecules, we intend to investigate the role of added fatty acid, in relation to the real PLMs. The primary question concerns the effect of conformation of these ligands at the interface. In a future experiment we would then move on to resolving the conformation of these ligands in the presence of ions.
