This dataset contains an updated geomorphological terrace map of the lower Meuse Valley located in the southern Netherlands and adjoining areas of northeastern Belgium and western Germany. The map was compiled from previously published terrace maps (Macar, 1938; Felder & Bosch, 1989; Van den Berg, 1989) and supplemented with newly coded borehole data, the distribution map of the Beegden Formation (TNO-GDN), and morphologic analyses of high-resolution LiDAR-based Digital Elevation Models (AHN, version 2). Terrace boundaries were delineated using both terrace base and terrace top elevations, refined with borehole information and cross-sections. The dataset provides an updated and regionally integrated overview of the lower Meuse terrace distribution, supporting future research on Quaternary fluvial geomorphology, stratigraphy, and archaeology.
The files are provided as ESRI Shapefiles containing vector data in polygon format and respective attribute table, representing the mapped terrace units. A legend for terms used in the attribute table is found in the “ReadMe.txt” file.
