Attitude to the European Union. Assessment of the political and economic situation of the country. Topics: Judgement on the general development of the country; judgement on the development of one´s own financial situation in the last year and expectations in the next year; attitude to the market economy; satisfaction with the development of democracy in the country; assessment of the extent of respect of human rights in one´s country; attitude to the goals and activities of the EU; designation of the country with which the future of one´s own country the soonest will be tied; EU or one´s country as beneficiary of the relation to the EU; sources used for information about the policies and institutions of the EU; housing situation; party preference; ethnic origins; native language; knowledge of foreign languages. The following additional questions were posed in the ´European Agreement´ countries: approval of membership of one´s country in the EU and most important reasons for one´s own stand; designation of area of business, social groups and institutions, who are winners or losers in the relation to the EU; attitude to opening an EU information center in the capital city of the country; EU-related areas with highest need for information.

Einstellung zur Europäischen Union. Einschätzung der politischen und wirtschaftlichen Situation des Landes. Themen: Beurteilung der allgemeinen Entwicklung des Landes; Beurteilung der Entwicklung der eigenen finanziellen Situation im letzten Jahr und Erwartungen an das nächste Jahr; Einstellung zur Marktwirtschaft; Zufriedenheit mit der Demokratieentwicklung im Lande; Einschätzung des Ausmaßes der Beachtung der Menschenrechte im eigenen Land; Einstellung zu den Zielen und Aktivitäten der EU; Bezeichnung des Landes, mit dem die Zukunft des eigenen Landes am ehesten verbunden sein wird; EU oder eigenes Land als Nutznießer aus der Beziehung zur EU; benutzte Informationsquellen über die Politik und die Einrichtungen der EU; Wohnsituation; Parteipräferenz; ethnische Herkunft; Muttersprache; Fremdsprachenkenntnisse. In den "European Agreement"-Ländern wurde zusätzlich gefragt: Befürwortung einer Mitgliedschaft des Landes in der EU und wichtigste Gründe für die eigene Haltung; Bezeichnung der Branchen, sozialen Gruppen und Institutionen, die Gewinner bzw. Verlierer bei der Beziehung zur EU sind; Einstellung zur Eröffnung eines EU-Informationszentrums in der Hauptstadt des Landes; EU-bezogene Bereiche mit höchstem Informationsbedarf.
