Appendix to “New Light on the Marginalia of Family 1 in the Synoptics” by Tommy Wasserman and Conrad Thorup Elmelund

DOI

Table 1 provides a list of all 122 double readings in the Synoptics in 2954 (14 in Matt; 20 in Mark; and 88 in Luke). In a previous study, we have accounted for the 78 double readings in John giving a total of 200 in the Four Gospels. Each alternative reading in 2954 is introduced with Γρ in the margin or between the lines (in one case in Matt 2:15/50–2:16/48 it is placed in the catena). In one case in Luke 1:76, which we did not include, καὶ σὺ δέ (= NA28) is written in the margin without Γρ and was perhaps meant as a correction of καὶ σύ (1 565 1582 2193 Byz) in the text. At this point, we have only included the following core members of Family 1 in the collation: 1, 565, 1582, 2193. In a few cases, we have included 2517 because it shares some significant double readings and features the same commentary as 2954. We have also indicated the Majority Text (Byz or pm when it is split), and the initial text (Ausgangstext) of the Editio Critica Maior (ECM) in Mark. The abbreviation “rell.” in the apparatus indicates the attestation of the rest of the consistently cited core members of Family 1 (1, 565, 1582, 2193).
