Muon spin rotation study of LixFeyAs and NaFeAs superconductors

DOI

We will examine the magnetic and superconducting properties of these two novel superconducting systems using muon spin rotation and relaxation experiments. Stoichiometric LiFeAs is superconducting (Tc ~ 15K) and our recent study showed that the superfluid density is remarkably large compared to other pnictide superconductors with similar Tc values, as well as finding evidence for field-induced magnetism. By changing the Li and Fe concentrations both superconducting and non-superconducting variants can be produced which we will study in parallel with diffraction experiments. The As-Fe-As bond angles are unusually large in LiFeAs, with correspondingly short Fe-Fe distances. Changing the composition accentuates these features and should provide novel information on this portion of the FeAs superconductor phase diagram. NaFeAs has only been synthesized very recently and superconducts at 9K.
