Effect of Temperature on Coordination of Small Rotor-Molecules Within Microporous Materials

DOI

We request five days on TOSCA to study the partial phonon density of states of ammonia absorbed within two zeolitic materials. This work is a continuation of our previous INS (Inelastic Neutron Scattering) and DINS (Deep Inelastic Neutron Scattering) investigations, where we have shown for the first time that INS is a viable technique for the study of small, hydrogen-containing molecules at low concentrations in a zeolite. This study is to be run over a temperature range from 4 to 273K. The proposed study will enable two complementary investigations. First, a direct comparison of the coordination of ammonia to Na+ and Cun+ cations. The second, concurrent study will examine the effect of high temperature (up to 273K) on rotor molecules on TOSCA.By taking variable temperature measurements we hope to be able to characterize a quasi-elastic regime on TOSCA.
