The aims of the study were to evaluate prediction precision and bias for beef carcass conformation and fat cover when graded with a novel semi-automatic method, based on measurements of carcass length. Data for this study included conformation and fat cover, as well as other variables used to calculate prediction precision and biasedness estimates. Prediction precision and biasedness were evaluated for a test set including carcasses classified by Norwegian classifiers, and a separate test set for carcasses classified by international classifiers.
