This dataset provides major element compositions of marine sediments over the past 5.4 ka at Core SUT10 in the Gulf of Thailand. The data include major element compositions and loss of ignition (LOI). The Core SUT10 (10.46°N, 100.92°E; 62 m water depth, 1.51 m long) was retrieved from the cruise of Hydrographic and Oceanographic Survey (HOS) in March 2011. The major element (2-cm resolution, 71 samples) was analyzed on fused-glass beads of non-calcareous samples by X-ray fluorescence (XRF) using a PANalytical Axios MAX Spectrometer. Chinese rock and sediment standards (GRS05, GSR14, and GSR15) were analyzed to calculate the average deviation (<2%) for major elements. Major elements were expressed as their oxides as absolute contents of the carbonate-free samples. All tests were analyzed at the State Key Laboratory of Marine Geology, Tongji University (Shanghai).
