De geïnterviewde ging in 1953 naar Indië in dienst bij de KLM in het kader van de technische assistentie die de KLM aan de Garoeda verleende. In Indië woonde hij in een beschermde wijk. De geïnterviewde vertelt over zijn werk. Hij vloog veel, op verschillende bestemmingen. Toen de situatie steeds slechter werd vloog hij veel evacués naar Singapore. Eind 1957 werd al het Nederlandse personeel het land uitgezet.
