This dataset comprises 3D X-ray computed tomography (XCT) scans of eight rock cores (15 mm diameter) prepared from two gabbroic nodules collected at Gígöldur, Central Iceland. The scans are provided in the Tagged Image File Format (*.tif). Data were acquired using a Carl Zeiss Xradia Versa-410 3D X-ray microscope at the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia – Sezione di Napoli, Osservatorio Vesuviano (INGV-OV), Italy.
Data collection was carried out under Trans-National Access support through EXCITE (EC H2020 INFRAIA, grant agreement No. 101005611).
Sampling method
Two gabbroic nodule samples were collected in 2019 as loose float from two separate locations in Gígöldur, Central Iceland.
Analytical procedure
Samples were scanned using a Carl Zeiss Xradia Versa-410 3D X-ray microscope in absorption mode. Each scan comprised 1601 projections over a 360° rotation, acquired at 90 kV and 8 W. An optical magnification of 0.4× yielded a nominal voxel size of 16.09 μm. Low-energy filters (LE5 and LE6) were applied to minimise beam hardening.
Data processing
Reconstructions were carried out using the integrated XRM Reconstructor software.
