Hij is eveneens aanwezig geweest bij de deportatie van joden uit Barneveld naar kamp Westerbork. Dit waren joden die aanvankelijk vrijgesteld waren van deportatie vanwege hun functie in de maatschappij. Hij gaat uitvoerig op deze gebeurtenissen in en gaat in op de gevoelens die hij hierbij had. During the war he was a policeman. In this function he was involved in the deportation of a Jewish family in The Hague. He was also present during the deportation from Jews from Camp Barneveld to Camp Westerbork. The Jews in Barneveld were a group who were at first exempt from deportation because of their position in society. He talks extensively about these events and about his feelings about all of this. In addition to these events he fought in the first days of the occupation in May 1940, near Katwijk. He also gives details about this.

These interviews are with witnesses, collaborators, and perpetrators. In ten years, over 600 interviews have been conducted in the following European countries: Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania, the Ukraine, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Serbia. These interviews serve not only as corroboration of what Jewish victims and survivors report in their interviews and memoirs, they also create a broader understanding of the tragic events of World War II by adding the perspectives of non-Jewish populations.
