Hillegom Vosse- en Weerlanerpolder Begeleiding

ADC ArcheoProjecten heeft een Archeologische Begeleiding (conform protocol Opgraven) uitgevoerd ten behoeve van de aanleg van nieuwe sloten en ecologische oevers in de Vosse- en Weerlanerpolder in de gemeente Hillegom. De Archeologische Begeleiding behelsde het toezicht houden op het uitgraven van de sloten en oevers.Het onderzoeksgebied heeft een oppervlakte van ca. 41,5 ha en was in gebruik als gras- en weideland. Het gebied ligt ten noorden van de dorpskern en wordt begrensd door bebouwing in het zuiden, grasland in het westen en noorden en de Haarlemmerringvaart in het oosten.Uit het vooronderzoek is gebleken dat de bodemopbouw binnen het plangebied intact is. Binnen het plangebied zijn (nederzettings)sporen uit de IJzertijd tot en met de Vroege Middeleeuwen te verwachten. Gedurende het vooronderzoek is reeds scherfmateriaal uit de Romeinse tijd aangetroffen.Tijdens de begeleiding zijn geen sporen van bewoning aangetroffen, maar wel enkele vondsten.Enkele scherven zijn in de Romeinse periode te dateren en zoals verwacht in het noorden van het plangebied aangetroffen. Daarmee liggen ze in de nabijheid van de locatie waar scherven tijdens het vooronderzoek gevonden zijn. Daarnaast is scherfmateriaal uit de Nieuwe tijd aangetroffen, deze scherven dateren van na de 17e eeuw n.Chr. Het materiaal uit de Nieuwe tijd is gevonden in een opgebrachte zandlaag, die op de veraarde top van het veen is aangebracht. In het zuidoosten van het plangebied is vastgesteld dat delen van het plangebied aanzienlijk zijn vergraven.
