The dataset contains the results of pedoanthracological, archaeobotanical, entomological, malacological, physicochemical, and radiocarbon analyses conducted on soil samples collected from the T1S1 test pit at the Pian Rosso site (Monte Mongioie, Ormea, Italy). The dataset contains nine CSV files with pedoanthracological results consisting in 1) the total amount of charcoal (anthracomass) present along the profile and 2) the taxa identification of charcoal fragments.
The dataset also contain four documents (ODS format) showing results of the following analysis: 1) radiocarbon dating of eight charred botanical remains, 2) chemical characterisation of the sampled soils (calculation of OM, N, P, C/N, CEC among others), 3) archaebotany (quantification of seeds and taxa identification), 4) archaeoentomology and malacology (insects and terrestrial mollusc quantification and taxa identification).
Photos and images (JPG files) of the three test pits (T1S1, T1S2, T1S3) excavated along an altitudinal transect in the southern slope of Monte Mongioie are also present.
OxCal, 4.4.4
The dataset has been produced through multi-proxy research combining pedoanthracology, archaeobotany, archaeoentomology, malacology, radiocarbon dating, and chemistry.
