De geïnterviewde ging in 1952 naar Indonesië om daar als arts te werken. Zij werkte onder andere in een kraamkliniek te Soerabaja. De geïnterviewde vertelt hoe het met de kraamzorg in Indonesië gesteld was. Ook schetst de geïnterviewde een beeld van de situatie in Indië die zij in de eerste instantie als nog enigszins koloniaal omschrijft.
