Test of an array of new thermal and resonance neutron detectors

DOI

The R&D activity on neutron detectors is strategic and instrumental for the development of reliable application of the neutron techniques. We propose to use two equal systems composed of an array of SiPM coupled to a YAP scintillator to detect gammas and neutrons (by Cadmium foil converter). Present proposal strictly related to the results form previous investigation (RB 860014) performed on INES diffractometer where a comparison between the SiPM (silicon photomultiplier) and standard PMT (standard photomultiplier) both coupled by the same YAP-crystal scintillator have been performed.
