The data in this dataset encapsulate networks of relationships between intellectuals, organisations, and events in Ibero-American film field; taking as a starting point three women (the Argentinean intellectual Victoria Ocampo, the Spanish journalist María Luz Morales, and the Mexican photographer Lola Álvarez Bravo), and the relationships between Ibero-American film clubs. We expanded their range of activities and relations via the “follow the actor” tenet of Actor Network theory. The archive contains the data necessary to reproduce the visualisations presented in chapters 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 of the thesis “Networks of Women in the first Ibero-American film clubs from 1909 to 1959”, and available online in their interactive version at [https://global-ls.github.io/filmculture-socnet/]. The visualisation has been created using the open graph visualisation software Gephi 0.10.1, (https://gephi.org/) but can be obtained with any other network visualisation tool.
These data contain the relationship between people, organisations, and events appearing in the networks of Lola Álvarez Bravo (LAB), María Luz Morales (MLM), Victoria Ocampo (VO), and of Ibero American film clubs (IAFC) . Each network is stored as a pair of CSV files containing, respectively, information about the nodes and the list of edges.
