The datasets here listed are the result of a survey (2019) and a mapping exercise (2019/2020) related to understand the context of creative industries in three kampongs in Bandung, Indonesia. These activities were conducted as part of the NWO-WOTRO funded project “Informal economies and creative industry strategies (INECIS) – governance, arrangements, socio-spatial dynamics and informal economies in urban kampungs in Indonesia”. The INECIS project has an international collaboration between the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) from the University of Twente the Netherlands, the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) Indonesia, and Perkumpulan Inisiatif Indonesia. The aforementioned datasets allowed us to investigate the socio-spatial patterns of creative industries in these areas before, during and after the implementation of the 2009 Creative Economy national policy. In particular, they allowed us to explore further the socio-economic and spatial patterns of creative industries of three kampongs, which differ in four main aspects: the main type of creative activities, the social and historical characteristics of these businesses, the evolution of their spatiality and the policies and institutional strategies put in place to support them.
