This dataset compiles biographical and professional information on individuals elected as members of ten United Nations human rights treaty bodies: the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD), the Human Rights Committee (CCPR), the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR), the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), the Committee against Torture (CAT), the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC), the Committee on Migrant Workers (CMW), the Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED), the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), and the Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture (SPT). For each committee member, the dataset records nationality, legal system, region, year of election, dates/duration of term(s), date of birth, gender, education, current profession, and a coded summary of professional background and substantive expertise (see "Specialized formats or other abbreviations used" in the Readme file).

Biographies of individuals as submitted for their election to the UN treaty bodies. The CVs are limited to two pages and can be downloaded by clicking on the name of each candidate. The biographies are official UN documents.
