De geïnterviewde ging in 1950 als burger naar Indonesië waar hij in de staalhandel ging werken. De geïnterviewde vertelt over zijn werkzaamheden. Hij was heel goed in zijn werk en klom vrij snel hogerop. De geïnterviewde wist met verschillende producten op de juiste manier te handelen. De geïnterviewde gaat tot slot in op de nationalisatie van het bedrijf waarvoor hij werkte.
