Lagoon hydrodynamics of pearl farming islands in French Polynesia : the case of Gambier Islands

DOI

Gambier Islands has been instrumented over a period of 9 months (from June 2019 to late February 2020) separated into 2 Legs. Physical process such as water level, wave climate, currents ciruclation in deep channels, exchanges between intra-lagoons and water column stratification have been measured to characterized the hydrodynamic functioning of this opened pearl farming group of islands. The sampling strategy principally focused on the Rikitea lagoon and on lagoons surroundings Mangareva and Aukena Islands. To do so, autonomous oceanographic instruments measuring at high sampling frequency were deployed on bottom moored stations. Sampling strategy available on Sextant - Marine Geographic Information System. More informations on ANR MANA project.
