Towards optimised detergency at low temperatures

DOI

This proposal is about the development of sustainable detergency based formulations, based on the blending of biosurfactants with conventional surfactants, and is part of a CASE award funded by EPSRC and Unilever. The focus of the project is to understand the interfacial properties of complex multi-component mixtures of biosurfactants and conventional surfactants at low temperatures, and how those properties can be optimised for low temperature detergency. We request NR beam time on INTER to explore the surface adsorption behaviour of the Rhamnolipids (R1 and R2) / C12E8 / LAS / SLES 5 component mixtures at temperatures from RT down to 10°C.
