Phonon Anomalies in Charge-Density-Wave Ordered La2-xSrxCuO4

DOI

It has been known for some time that the CuO bond-stretching phonon in the high-temperature superconductor La2-xSrxCuO4 (LSCO) exhibits anomalies is its dispersion and damping. A recent resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS) experiment on charge density wave (CDW) ordered LSCO (x=1/8) has shown that the same phonon exhibits a strong RIXS signal for a range of wavevectors greater than the CDW ordering wavevector qCDW. This result indicates anomalously strong electron-phonon coupling and the presence strong charge density wave excitations. Here we propose to measure dispersion and damping of the phonon for the LSCO composition studied by RIXS.
