Dynamics of in Poly(vinyl alcohol)-SiC Nanofiber Composite

DOI

Inorganic-organic hybrid nanocomposites are formed by incorporating inorganic nanoparticles in soft organic polymer matrices. The dynamics of the polymer can be affected due to its interaction with the nanoparticles. It is important to investigate the dynamical behaviour of the naonocomposites and correlation with their mechanical properties. This depends on the natureand loading of the nanoparticle, the type of polymer matrix and the interaction between nanoparticle and polymer. Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) has a wide range of applications in textile andadhesives, coating materials, fuel cells etc. Tensile measurements have shown peculiar behaviour of young modulus of PVA, with respect to the loading of SiC nanofiber. The aim of the proposed experiment is to investigate the effect of binding to SiC nanofiber on the dynamic of PVA and its correlation to the mechanical strength.
