Li3-x-yMxN (M=Cu, Co, Ni) anode materials via novel microwave routes; defect structure and stoichiometry.

DOI

Lithium ternary nitrides are emerging as promising anode materials in lithium ion batteries. In this application we propose a 1 day experiment on POLARIS to determine the stoichiometry and defects of microwave synthesized Li3-xMxN where M= (Cu, Co and Ni) at different compositions ranging from x=0.2 to 0.5 at room temperature. We want to demonstrate that nitridometallates synthesized by this method compare well with the materials produced by the conventional methods. Furthermore savings in cost and energy will be achieved because of the rapid progress of these reactions.
