Lagoon hydrodynamics of pearl farming atolls in French Polynesia : the case of Takapoto Atoll (Tuamotu Archipelago)

DOI

Takapoto Atoll has been instrumented over a period of 4 months (from November 2021 to late March 2022). Physical process such as water level, exchanges between ocean and lagoon through "hoa" and water column stratification have been measured to characterized the hydrodynamic functioning of this enclosed pearl farming atoll. Six moorings have been deployed into lagoon, hoa and external reef slope stations with common autonomous oceanographic instruments measuring at high sampling frequency.  Sampling strategy available on Sextant - Marine Geographic Information System.
