Daytime spawning data of the coral Porites rus in the Indian and Pacific Oceans

DOI

The mass spawning of Porites rus, a scleractinian coral, was monitored between 2014 and 2023 in the South Pacific and South Indian Oceans using citizen science approaches. Two datasets were compiled: one at the reef site level, which recorded the spawning time of the first Porites rus colony to spawn at each site (2014-2023); and a second at the colony level, which recorded the spawning times of tagged colonies within monitoring sites (2021-2023). Detailed results from these analyses will soon be disclosed in a peer-reviewed article.
