Vibrational properties of ammine complexes

DOI

Our intention is to study the INS spectra of ammine complexes nNH3LiBH4 (with n = 1,2,3,4) and nNH3LiI (n=1). Ammine complexes (MXm(NH3)n), amides (M(NH2)m), and imides (M2(NH)m/2) are substances, which are based on molecular groups of hydrogen and nitrogen. The principle difference between them is the state of charge of the molecular group, which is related to the number of hydrogen attached to it. They are thus an ideal model system to study the formation and decomposition of the molecular group. This reaction is the fundamental step in the de-hydrogenation reactions of all complex hydrides mediated via a mobile intermediate.
