Surfactants at the metal-oil interface

DOI

The lubrication of surfaces by oils is a key aspect of many academic and industrial problems with significant financial implications. In this experiment we would like to extend our recent study to investigate the adsorption of 1-hexadecylamine (CH3 (CH2)15NH2 from hexadecane-d34 and deuterated 1-Methylnaphthalene and Palmitic acid (CH3 (CH2)14COOH from 1-Methylnaphthalene on iron metal oxide surfaces will be studied over a specific series of concentrations. These particular additives represent important development of this work: amines are important additives in their own right and have roles in several corrosion, wear and lubrication technologies.
