Temperature Dependent Neutron Diffraction Studies on the Phase Transition in Eu2AuGe3

DOI

Eu2AuGe3 was synthesized by metal flux method. Room temperature single crystal XRD data shows that this compound crystallizes within the orthorhombic Ca2AgSi3 type structure. Temperature dependent single crystal XRD on selected crystal indicate a structural phase transition at around 140-150 K, which is supported by electrical resistivity and magnetic measurements. However, the the crystal structure refinement at low temperature range is not a conlusive based on the conventional symmtery reduction process. I propose a systematic temperature dependent neutron diffraction studies on the single crystal of the Eu2AuGe3 compound in the temperature range 4 K to maximum possible at SXD (1233 K) to understand the phase transition and interesting magnetic properties.
