Abundance of zooplankton at the Cape Verde Ocean Observatory (CVOO) as quantified by day/night multinet hauls

DOI

Zooplankton samples were collected during different cruises (2012-2019) using the same Hydrobios Multinet Midi (0.25m^2 net opening, 200µm mesh, five nets) in vertical hauls from 1000m to the surface, with depth strata 1000-600-300-200-100-0. Samples were size-fractionated, digitized and sorted into taxonomic categories on Ecotaxa (https://ecotaxa.obs-vlfr.fr/prj/6139). Using area to biomass conversion factors from Lehette & Hernandez-Leon 2006, individual biomass was estimated. Data were aggregated into summed abundance (ind m^3) and biomass (µg DW m^3) for each taxon.

Each row is one sample (i.e. one net stratum).
